around the globeA tribute to Lord Cormack who died 25 February 2024.
"I first met Lord Cormack when he sat as a Member of Parliament in 1991. He had arranged an evening for Churchill Fellows at the Houses of Parliament in London. The evening consisted of a guided tour around the House of Commons and the House of Lords. A new room had been opened for the event and named the Churchill room. It displayed a number of Churchill´s paintings and created quite a reflective atmosphere. The dinner and speeches all embraced the spirit of Churchill with humour and anecdotes. Lord Cormack continued to arrange the event annually and I stayed in touch with him during the years afterwards. " "The Churchill Path of Destiny was very appreciative of his involvement and the role he played in encouraging other notable persons to select their favourite Churchill quotations for the project in Denmark. His support was very welcome and enlightening." Other news. New Zealand and Italy have both been approached to see if they would be interested in supplying stone for the Path of Destiny. The A. P Møller Fund in Denmark has been unable to provide financial support for the project. However, as a neighbour to Churchill Park they see no reason why there should be any objection, from themselves, for the project to go forward during the planning committee phase with the governmental authorities. Contact with various foundations and international philanthropists is ongoing.

draft Plan sets out thinking for churchill path of destiny (Memorial)
Recent observations of crowd movement in 2022 at the bust of Winston Churchill in Copenhagen have seen the need to create a hard surface directly in front of the bronze bust or alternatively relocate it away from its current location. This idea is one of many currently being explored.
The famous Churchill quotation; "In War - Resolution, In Defeat - Defiance, In Victory - Magnanimity and In Peace - Goodwill" will be inscribed in the stone and become a main feature to the attraction. The Churchill quotations selected by leaders who supported the project in 2005 will be placed in a path going towards Churchill. International consultations start in 2023 and will listen to all opinions as well as the feedback on social media channels. One of the goals will be to increase the flow of people and raise the level of interest in the bronze monument and the quotations wherever it is finally located. |
